About this event

This production presents Puccini's opera Tosca in the Marguerre-Saal. It is directed by Paul-Georg Dittrich, with musical direction by Mino Marani. The visual team consists of Michael Sieberock-Serafimowitsch for sets and costumes, Lukas Rehm for video, and Karsten Rischer for lighting. The production focuses on the conflict between Republicans and royalists in Italy around 1800 and on the collision of political intrigue, personal arbitrariness, power, art, and life under an authoritarian system. The musical forces are the Philharmonic Orchestra Heidelberg, the Extra Chorus of the Theater and Orchestra Heidelberg, and the Children's and Youth Chorus of the Theater and Orchestra Heidelberg.
