About this event
This production of Johann Strauss’s celebrated operetta is staged by Manuel Schöbel for Landesbühnen Sachsen, highlighting the work’s comic and satirical bite—often hailed as the pinnacle of the Golden Age of Viennese operetta. Ralph Zeger’s sets and Sabina Moncys’s costumes create a visual world that supports the intricate games of disguise and social pretense. The action is placed in a spa-town suburb, lending a specific atmosphere to the intrigue. Musical direction is shared among Ekkehard Klemm, Jan Arvid Prée, and Florian Merz with the Elbland Philharmonie Sachsen. Choreographic elements by Till Nau, performed by the Tanzcompagnie der Landesbühnen Sachsen, are integral to the staging.
