About this event

This is a 2026 staging of Jacques Offenbach’s operetta Orpheus in the Underworld, presented by Opéra bouffe du Québec at the Theatre des Muses within Maison des arts de Laval. The production is directed by Alain Zouvi, with musical and artistic direction by Julien Patenaude. It brings together nine named soloists, approximately 40 choristers, and the OBQ orchestra. The production treats the Olympian setting comically and satirically: the gods are bored, Orpheus is dissatisfied, Eurydice leaves, and Public Opinion reprimands the characters. The French Cancan is a notable musical element.
