About this event

In Ilaria Lanzino's staging, Stanisław Moniuszko's opera receives a contemporary reading. The production frees the work from conventional associations with the past and emphasizes meanings and emotions that the theatre considers timeless. Tradition is placed in dialogue with modernity through strongly defined characters, a current interpretive message and visual work inspired by Katarzyna Kobro, Natalia LL and Ewa Partum. The production is open to new interpretations rather than being a historical reconstruction.
