Silvia Paoli directs this production, presented at Massy as a delegated-production reprise with a new cast. The original production is credited to Opéra National de Nancy-Lorraine, in coproduction with Opéra de Toulon, Opéra de Rennes, and Angers Nantes Opéra; Opéra de Massy is credited with the delegated-production reprise. The uncluttered staging focuses on human passions, violence, desire, fear, and the corrupt power embodied by Scarpia.
