About this event

The Carmen Case is a staged opera and touring production. Created at Théâtre Auditorium de Poitiers in 2023, it is presented by Angers Nantes Opéra as a 2026 recreation. Alexandra Lacroix and Diana Soh transform Bizet's Carmen into a criminal-court hearing. Prosecutors, accused persons, defence lawyers and witnesses reconstruct the events leading to Carmen's death, while the audience occupies the position of jurors. Soh's new music is intimately interwoven with Bizet's score. The production team includes Lucie Leguay, Mathieu Lorry-Dupuy, Olga Karpinsky, Flore Marvaud, Jérémie Bernaert and Laura Bauchet.
