Turandot – Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro

About this event

The announced production is a staging of Giacomo Puccini's Turandot by the Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, performed with the house Chorus and Symphony Orchestra. The announcement frames the Rio presentation as a centenary homage to Puccini's opera and identifies the house artists and invited soloists as the performing forces. André Heller-Lopes is credited with stage direction. The source states that this staging was presented in 2018 at Theatro Municipal de São Paulo and that the Rio presentation marks 20 years since Heller-Lopes's first production at the Rio theatre, Idomeneo, in 2006. The conductor had not yet been defined in the announcement. The documented artistic frame is a drama set in a legendary, timeless Beijing, where love and death coexist. No set, costume, lighting, choreographic, revival, or assistant-director credits are published in the reviewed event sources.
