About this event

Anna Kelo's direction examines power relations between social classes and genders. The production retains the period setting before the French Revolution while highlighting the unequal privileges of the aristocratic household. Comic playfulness is combined with a sharper examination of social structures. The women drive the action, with Susanna and the Countess at the centre of the strategic reversals. Jani Uljas designed the set, Erika Turunen the costumes, and Mikki Kunttu the lighting and projections. James Sherlock conducts.
