Angel’s Bone is a staged opera-theatre work by composer Du Yun with a libretto by Royce Vavrek. ENO and Factory International describe an immersive presentation in which Du Yun’s score blends opera and chamber music with punk rock, cabaret and electronic textures. The libretto confronts themes of modern slavery and human trafficking. Director Kip Williams employs projection and multi-angle viewing to create an intense, immersive environment, with designs by Marg Horwell. The Manchester presentation is a collaboration between English National Opera, Factory International and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, with Kantos Chamber Choir. Advisory notes flag depictions of sexual exploitation and extreme violence; age guidance is 18+. Some performances include access features such as captioning and British Sign Language interpretation.
