“Rendezvous um halb 8” is Deutsche Oper am Rhein’s recurring crossover concert format. In the 2026/27 season it returns to the stage of the Düsseldorf Opera House, where a bar is set up on stage to invite informal conversation between ensemble singers and guest musicians between musical numbers. The JAPAN edition (“Oper meets JAPAN”) is the fourth and final entry of the season and offers a one-night encounter between soloists of the company and regional artists from different musical worlds. Designed like an after‑work date at 7:30 pm, the evening blends high‑level operatic vocalism with traditional and contemporary Japanese sounds in a relaxed, cabaret‑style staging, without a fixed dramatic plot.
