About this event

This is a solo piano recital by Icelandic pianist Víkingur Ólafsson. The primary event page designs the evening around the relationship between E major and E minor, identifying Beethoven's Op. 90 and Op. 109 as central works and placing Bach and Schubert pieces with related tonal material around them. The primary program is divided into two halves. The first half moves from Bach's E-major Prelude to Beethoven's E-major Ninth Sonata and Bach's E-minor Sixth Partita. The second half continues with Beethoven's E-minor Op. 90, Schubert's E-minor Sixth Sonata, and Beethoven's E-major Op. 109. The production concept is therefore carried by program architecture rather than theatrical staging: the source frames the recital as a tracing of tonality and as a comparison of how related keys function across different composers and periods. The page does not credit a conductor, director, designer, choreographer, or other staging personnel.
