About this event

This is a symphonic concert led by conductor Paavo Järvi with the Estonian Festival Orchestra and pianist Alexander Kantorow. The program combines a contemporary Baltic orchestral work with a Romantic piano concerto and a Finnish symphony, creating a sequence that moves from modern Baltic sound to Rachmaninoff's piano-centered lyricism and Sibelius's orchestral writing. The concert opens with Erkki-Sven Tüür's Passion. Illusion., described as presenting a distinctive Baltic sound world. Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 follows, with Kantorow as soloist. The second half is devoted to Sibelius's Symphony No. 5, led by Järvi with the Estonian Festival Orchestra. The artistic format is a conductor-and-orchestra concert performance rather than a staged theatrical production.
