About this event

This original international ballroom dance theatre work combines Latin dance with modern bodily expression and applies the Chinese philosophical idea of square and circle to contemporary stage movement. A Go board forms the central visual device: the stage becomes the board, lighting separates opposing forces, and dancers act as pieces whose relationships change. The phases of a Go game—layout, battle and endgame—represent confusion, struggle and awakening. Collective formations establish social structures, while solo movement explores identity and external definition. The work was selected for the Youth Artist Support Program of the 25th China Shanghai International Arts Festival.
