About this event

This is a concert presentation serving two opening functions: it is the opening performance of the 25th China Shanghai International Arts Festival and the inaugural concert of the Shanghai Grand Opera House. The program spans classical and contemporary vocal repertoire rather than presenting a fully staged opera. It uses both indoor and outdoor spaces at the new opera-house venue and combines European operatic excerpts associated with Mozart, Verdi, and Puccini with Chinese national-opera titles and contemporary Chinese songs. The performance features three conductors, nine named singers, including two overseas singers, and four Shanghai orchestral or choral ensembles. Harmony Hall is identified as the specific hall.
