Ballet
This Moscow-origin production adapts Miguel de Cervantes's novel into a classical ballet with Spanish color, a comic plot and technically demanding ballet vocabulary. Developed through successive stagings over more than a century, the current version preserves selected elements of that staging history. The production credits Marius Petipa and Alexander Gorsky for the choreography, Alexei Fadeyechev for the new choreography version, and Pavel Sorokin as music director. The design team comprises Valery Levental, Elena Zaytseva and Damir Ismagilov. Tatiana Rastorguyeva and Yuliana Malkhasiants are choreography assistants, and Olga Medvedeva is executive designer.
