Inside The Music: Suddenly Last Summer – Athenaeum Of Philadelphia, Philadelphia

About this event

Inside the Music: Suddenly Last Summer is an Opera Philadelphia lecture focused on the musical material of Courtney Bryan's new opera. The event is an engaging talk exploring the music of a new adaptation of Tennessee Williams's play, presented with Opera Philadelphia's Scholar-in-Residence, Dr. Lily Kass. The underlying opera is a Philadelphia Premiere, with music by Bryan and a libretto by Gideon Lester and Daniel Fish based on Williams's play. Opera Philadelphia's production page identifies the work as a Southern Gothic drama combining operatic and theatrical elements. The work was co-commissioned by Fisher Center LAB and Opera Philadelphia. No lecture-specific director, scenic, costume, lighting, projection, cast, or staging concept is stated; this event is a talk about the opera rather than a staged performance.
