About this event
The Pawnshop is a theatre production by Compañía Teatral de la Heroica Ciudad de Pedrones, directed by Christian Nájera Jiménez. It is a contemporary adaptation and reworking of Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz's Los empeños de una casa. Also described as a baroque sitcom, the production was developed through the Nuevas Dramaturgias del Teatro Clásico Hispánico Residency/Laboratory, a joint initiative of the University of California, Los Angeles, and the Coordination of Cultural Dissemination of UNAM. The project was selected for the 54th Festival Internacional Cervantino. Design and production credits include Eva Aguiñaga for lighting, set design, and costumes; Christian Nájera Jiménez for direction and production; and César Serrano for still photography.
