Los espíritus de la selva is a solo-guitar concert built around the relationship between natural soundscapes and the real or fantastic creatures associated with them. The program combines different contemporary aesthetics and musical languages, with pieces emerging and fading as sound images of the natural environment. The repertoire includes music by Heitor Villa-Lobos and Ernesto García de León, including De la infancia selvática - Partita No. 3 Op. 83, written specifically for the project, as well as sound-worlds associated with Phillip Houghton and Stefan Soewandi. The artistic concept seeks to restore a fundamental connection between human beings and the earth, ranging from minimalism to the evocation of ancestral rhythms and incorporating jungle sounds, climatic phenomena, chaneques, and nahuales.
