About this event

The program presents Tao Ye's works 15 and 18 through TAO Dance Theater's continuing exploration of physical language. Work 15 originated in Tao Ye's collaboration with Nederlands Dans Theater and was created for 15 dancers from NDT's first ensemble. Work 18 continues the Numerical Series and is presented as Tao Ye's latest choreography in the event source. Work 15 is structured around triangular formations and three sections, using drifting, flowing, spatial shuttling, twisting, turning, bending, and folding. Work 18 is organized around a nine-square grid, treating dancers' bodies as brushstrokes and engaging with Tao Yuanming's poem "Xing Ying Shen (Form, Shadow and Spirit)."
