About this event
WHEN MOUNTAINS CRY is co-created by choreographer Brigel Gjoka and XieXin Dance Theatre. Its physical language uses recurring images of arms and hands to explore loss, growth, protection and hope. Repeated, converging and expanding gestures connect individual destinies with collective emotions. The poetic and fluid performance space links human relationships with time, memory and emotion, while ritual-inflected movement frames personal experience within a collective human context. Brigel Gjoka is credited with choreography and the stage and lighting concept. Taulant Shehu is the director. Hu Yanjun and Li Haiyi provide stage design; Gong Zhiyu provides lighting design; Liu Yuqi provides costume design; Vanguard Body handles costume production; and Karthika Nair is credited for the text. XieXin Dance Theatre produces and performs the work.
