About this event
This event is a revival of "Night Trial," presented as the central chapter of Prime Minister Liu the Hunchback by Jingju Theater Company of Beijing. The event page states that the company is reviving the chapter twenty-six years after its premiere. The stated approach retains the opera's established performance character while bringing the characters closer to everyday life. The staging also compacts the stage rhythm for contemporary audiences. These are the only specific directorial or staging principles stated on the primary event page. The October event listing names the company and three performers but does not credit a director, set designer, costume designer, lighting designer, choreographer, or other technical staff.
