“Mil e uma noites” is a touring orchestral concert by Teatro Nacional de São Carlos featuring its resident Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa (OSP). Centered on 19th‑century exoticism, it brings together Wagner’s Tannhäuser Overture, Rimsky‑Korsakov’s Capriccio espagnol, and his symphonic suite Scheherazade. The concept frames the evening as a single musical voyage through Romantic fascination with Mediterranean and Oriental narratives, without staging or theatrical elements. Wagner’s overture sets a bridge between pilgrimage hymn and bacchanal, handing the program to Rimsky‑Korsakov’s two virtuosic suites that spotlight orchestral color and brilliance. The project is conceived in a traveling format: the OSP and conductor Antonio Pirolli take the Lisbon‑based program on the road to the Algarve, with this Faro date presented as a one‑off engagement at Teatro das Figuras.
