Giant - The Play – Maltings Cinema At Berwick Barracks, Berwick-Upon-Tweed

About this event

GIANT - The Play is presented at The Maltings as a cinema screening of a live-recorded West End stage production rather than as a newly mounted local performance. The production was filmed live in London's West End before its Broadway run. The play is written by Mark Rosenblatt and directed by Nicholas Hytner, with Bob Crowley as designer. Additional production credits include Anna Watson as lighting designer, Alexandra Faye Braithwaite as sound designer, Arthur Carrington as casting director, Jaimie Todd as associate designer, and Bellaray Bertrand-Webb as assistant director. Inspired by a real 1983 controversy involving Roald Dahl, the play examines the boundary between considered opinion and dangerous rhetoric through a darkly humorous portrait of a charismatic public figure.
