About this event

This is a new Teatro dell'Opera di Roma production for the 2026/2027 season, staged by Rafael R. Villalobos and conducted by Michele Mariotti. The production opens the public season on 27 November and marks the opera's return to the Costanzi after 58 years. The design team includes Pablo Chaves Maza for sets, Felipe Ramos for lighting, and Villalobos for costumes. Ciro Visco is chorus master, with the Orchestra and Chorus of Teatro dell'Opera di Roma as the house forces. The opera is performed in its original language with Italian and English surtitles. Rai Cultura records and broadcasts the production on Rai 5 and Rai Play, with Rai Radio 3 also listed as a broadcaster.
