This is a touring concert production presented by Amsterdam Sinfonietta with Abel Selaocoe. It is the first collaboration between Selaocoe and the ensemble and marks his debut with Amsterdam Sinfonietta. The program combines twentieth-century French classical music with African musical traditions, including arrangements of Debussy and Ravel, Selaocoe's own compositions, and works by Vivaldi and Sollima. Selaocoe combines virtuosic cello playing, throat singing, and improvisation, while the concert also features cellist Tim Posner and percussionist Sidiki Dembélé. The production is presented as a concert rather than a staged drama.
