This is an orchestral concert in the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg Thursday-concert series, conducted by Roberto González-Monjas and featuring Kyohei Sorita as piano soloist. The program presents Mendelssohn's First Piano Concerto followed by Fanny Hensel's Das Jahr. The defining artistic element is the world premiere of Detlev Glanert's orchestration of Das Jahr, commissioned by the Mozarteumorchester and presenting Hensel's twelve-character-piece cycle on a symphonic scale. The event is presented as a concert rather than a staged dramatic production. An introductory lecture at 10:30 in the Wiener Saal is a separate event.
