Stephan Hippe: Douce France – Allee Theater, Hamburg

About this event

This solo Stephan Hippe program explores his long-term relationship with France. Hippe, a Hamburg singer, actor and chansonnier, combines observations about the country with chanson material. The evening reflects on love for a strange country, lost hearts, new insights and a lifelong affair, with chanson classics presented in orchestral arrangements. Personal anecdotes include being told “complet” in a half-empty restaurant, arriving at a country house without electricity or running water, and struggling to communicate in the local language.
