Orcolat '76 – Latisana

About this event

Orcolat '76 is an oratorio produced by Edit Eventi srl and Folkest for ERT Friuli Venezia Giulia, with support from the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and the Municipality of Gemona del Friuli. The text is by Simona Orlando and Simone Cristicchi, with original music by Valter Sivilotti. The performance blends spoken narration and song with choir and orchestra. Simone Cristicchi appears with accordion and voice, joined by vocalist Francesca Gallo and the reciting voice of Anna Maria De Monte. The Coro del Friuli Venezia Giulia is prepared by Cristiano Dell’Oste, and the FVG Orchestra is conducted by Valter Sivilotti. The work treats the 1976 Friuli earthquake through the legendary figure of the Orcolat, evoked as the earth’s cough. It interweaves words, music, testimony, and archival memory across a dramatic space that moves between reality, dream, memory, and hope. The 2026/27 Friuli presentation is a five-date regional tour across Latisana, Sacile, Maniago, Artegna, and Grado.
