About this event

This is a humorous opera for the whole family about the mysterious nanny Mary with magical powers. With this performance, we want to tell the young audience in a simple and evocative way about miracles - big and small moments of our fleeting lives. The libretto for this new Lithuanian opera was created by the poet Ramutė Skučaitė, who, based on the motifs of Pamela Travers' works, conveyed the stories about Mary Poppins in her own way. It's not by chance that Mary is blown into the Bens' house when she is most needed, because Mrs. Ben can't find a suitable nanny for the naughty children. In the five stories of the opera, we also see characters that are easily recognizable in our everyday life - this is the courtly Mrs. Ben, and the unhappy Vincent, and the humble Babysitter, and many others. Although the overall tone of the performance is witty, there is a serious undertone behind it: after all, sadness and joy, or major and minor, always travel together! (Composer Raminta Šerkšnytė)
