Back to reality is a theatre production created by Catherine Hargreaves and Adèle Gascuel. Its central material is the story of three sisters: Rachel, the eldest, has trisomy 21; Rebecca filmed their life together for ten years; and Catherine, the youngest and a director, inherits the remaining rushes after Rebecca’s hard drive fails. Catherine uses that material to make a stage work about Rachel and about growing up beside her. The staging places live performance alongside the filmed archive: three male performers embody sequences from Rachel’s life, her favorite songs, and people she encountered, including friends, colleagues, doctors, and Catherine Deneuve. The design credits underline video and sound as structural components of the retelling.
