About this event

it doesn't go without saying (& other gossips) is a project by Alix Eynaudi and Elizabeth Ward, created with dancer Ray Scheinecker. Its subject is the legacy of US postmodern dance, approached through the work and stories of choreographer and videographer Cathy Weis rather than through a conventional historical account. The production uses Weis’s voice as a continuing presence and treats the anecdote, interview and gossip as ways of sensing what a period retained and what it allowed to disappear. The staging unfolds through movement, sound, light and clothing, with the studio remaining visibly present and the work shifting between the body that learned and the body that remembers.
