Tiago Rodrigues writes and directs this sixth entry in the Histoire(s) du Théâtre series. The production is based on the final period of his father, Rogério Rodrigues, a respected Portuguese journalist who began writing a newspaper article while hospitalized as a terminal patient. Rodrigues uses his father’s unfinished work as the starting point for a performance about memory, writing, and farewell. Rather than presenting a conventional documentary, the staging imagines the unwritten pages. Memories, songs, and fragments of the father’s writing are combined into scenes that playfully vary on the theme of goodbye. The stage becomes a surreal landscape where hospital beds slide across an icy sea, a metaphor for life’s turbulence, while music and poetry form the production’s theatrical grammar.
