The Collections: Bright Fear – Kings Place, London

City of London Sinfonia presents The Collections: Bright Fear, an approximately 80‑minute, no‑interval concert in Hall One at King’s Place. Inspired by Mary Jean Chan’s poetry collection Bright Fear, British‑Hong Kong composer Nicola T. Chang unveils a world‑premiere suite for poet and chamber orchestra, performed by CLS musicians with traditional Chinese instruments. The evening interweaves Chan’s live readings with Chang’s piano and chamber‑orchestral textures, creating an immersive dialogue between words and music that explores identity, belonging, language, vulnerability and strength, in partnership with Faber & Faber.
