About this event

A solo piano recital celebrating Izumi Tateno’s 90th birthday on 10 November 2026. Following his mid-career transition to left-hand repertoire after a brain hemorrhage at age 65, Tateno presents a focused five-work program. The sequence moves from Yoshio Mamiya’s piece to P.H. Nordgren’s work inspired by Lafcadio Hearn’s Kwaidan, then Ryohei Kumamoto’s Yanagawa impressions, and a new commission by P. Escande honoring Ravel’s 150th anniversary (premiere). The recital closes with the Bach–Brahms Chaconne arrangement. The same titled program tours Sapporo, Fukuoka, and Tokyo, with the Tokyo date marking Tateno’s actual birthday.
