About this event

This autumn recital in Ikuyo Nakamichi’s ten-year series The Road to 2027 is titled “Suite ~ Harmony and Consideration ~.” Conceived as the ninth-year program of the project, it traces a line of suite-thinking from J.S. Bach’s Partitas to Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin and Grieg’s From Holberg’s Time. The pianist performs alone throughout, shaping one continuous solo-piano narrative. The series itself was designed by Nakamichi to culminate in 2027, aligning Beethoven’s death bicentenary with the 40th anniversary of her performing life. While the spring strand centers on Beethoven, the autumn strand explores new perspectives in pianism. Japan Arts presents the Tokyo performance at Hamarikyu Asahi Hall, with matching programs also hosted in Nagoya and Hamamatsu. The through-line of “harmony” is linked in Nakamichi’s note to a reflective, considerate heart.
