About this event

Peace in Our Time! is part of the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra’s 2026 season at the León de Greiff Auditorium (National University of Colombia), a venue with which the orchestra has collaborated for over 40 years. Led by chief conductor Joachim Gustafsson (Sweden), the program traces a thematic arc around reflection, memory, and the longing for peace. It opens with Blas Emilio Atehortúa’s Kaddish for male voices and orchestra (1981, Op. 181), a symphonic-choral elegy on the traditional Hebrew text, featuring the male section of the Youth Philharmonic Choir under Johanna Molano. Concertmaster Luis Martín Niño appears as guest soloist in Ludwig van Beethoven’s Violin Concerto. The evening concludes with the world premiere of Andrés Sánchez Angarita’s Symphony No. 1, marking the composer’s return to the OFB’s symphonic repertoire after earlier appearances (e.g., Tierras olvidadas).
