About this event

A 2026 Season concert by the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra at the León de Greiff Auditorium of the National University of Colombia. The program is entirely dedicated to Dmitri Shostakovich and features his Cello Concerto No. 1—one of the most demanding works in the 20th‑century cello repertoire, cast in four movements spanning a wide emotional range from a nocturne‑like opening to a burlesque finale—and the Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op. 53, a three‑movement work in which Shostakovich departs from the traditional heroic model to shape a contrasting cycle that begins with a dark Largo, continues with an energetic Scherzo, and closes with a Presto marked by declamatory percussion. The evening is led by guest conductor Tomàs Grau, current Music and Artistic Director of the Málaga Philharmonic, with José David Márquez, principal cellist of the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra, as soloist. Admission is free until capacity is reached.
