About this event
This concert is part of the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra’s 2026 Season and its long-standing series at the National University of Colombia’s Leon de Greiff Auditorium, reflecting more than 40 years of artistic collaboration between the two institutions. The program brings together two pillars of the Classical–Romantic symphonic repertoire: Mozart’s Sinfonia concertante for Violin and Viola (K. 364/320e), one of the composer’s few completed double concertos, in which the soloists engage on equal terms with the orchestra in a chamber-like dialogue; and Sibelius’s Symphony No. 5 in E-flat major, Op. 82, a landmark of the Finnish composer’s maturity from 1915, renowned for its final movement and the famous “swinging” brass motif leading to a triumphant close. The concert is led by the Korean-Canadian conductor Earl Lee, a 2022 Sir Georg Solti Award recipient and current Music Director of the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, who makes his debut with the Bogotá Philharmonic on this occasion.
