About this event
The Orchestra della Svizzera italiana (OSI) performs at LAC Lugano under Antonello Manacorda, with violinist Hans Liviabella as soloist. The program opens with Debussy’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune, a landmark of impressionist orchestral writing. Two concertante pages for violin follow: Respighi’s Leggenda in G minor and Lino Liviabella’s Violin Concerto (1902–1960), reflecting OSI’s commitment to reviving overlooked twentieth‑century Italian works. The evening concludes with Ravel’s Ma mère l’Oye suite, the orchestral transcription of his Mother Goose ballet in five miniature tableaux inspired by Perrault. The concert is broadcast live on RSI Rete Due, underscoring the long‑standing partnership between OSI and the Italian‑language Swiss public broadcaster.
