In 1963, Colette Renard created Les Nuits d’une demoiselle, a song that is both poetic and bawdy, an iconoclastic nocturnal diary of a woman in tune with her era and her hard-won independence. Embracing the same adventurous spirit, Ensemble Contraste invites mezzo-soprano Lucile Richardot to chart nocturnal chronicles imagined by poets and songwriters from Paris between the Belle Époque and the post-war years. The program blends art-song and classical gems (Poulenc, Satie, Boulanger, Milhaud) with iconic French chanson (Brel, Piaf, Ferré, Barbara, Gréco, Gainsbourg, Montand, Bourvil, Vian), interwoven with instrumental interludes by Satie and Milhaud. Part of Atelier Lyrique de Tourcoing’s Opening Festival, the concert takes place at the Conservatoire’s Auditorium Albert Roussel. Approximate running time: 1h15, no intermission.
