Jak nakrmit diktátora is a theatrical adaptation of the award-winning book by Polish journalist Witold Szabłowski. The production reframes the material as a fictional culinary survival show, channeling the stories of the personal chefs who cooked for Saddam Hussein, Idi Amin, Enver Hoxha, Fidel Castro, and Pol Pot. On stage, it plays like the Western world’s own Hunger Games, confronting a culture of culinary excess with the memories of people for whom food once meant life or death. The theatre advises that the performance features stage smoking, gunshot sounds, and a smoke machine. Food prepared during the show may be consumed by the audience afterward, with allergen details provided on cards. Incidental music licensed by OSA includes the song “Co jsem měl dnes k obědu” by Jiří Šlitr and Jiří Suchý.
