About this event

The music-and-dance programme by the Military Art Ensemble ONDRÁŠ draws on traditional expressions of folk culture in selected areas of the Carpathian arc. Through the spread of pastoral culture from the southern Carpathian regions via Transcarpathian Ukraine, Slovakia and Poland to eastern Moravia and the southeastern tip of Silesia, common musical and choreographic connections can be found. The beauty of songs, archaic musical instruments and older dance strata creates a colourful mosaic that respects the roots of folk culture. The creative team drew inspiration not only from song collections but also from archival audio-visual recordings documenting musical and dance expressions of folk-culture bearers in their original environment.
