Premiered in Milan in 2005, this solo is among Raffaella Giordano’s most elusive works. A pivotal figure in European dance, formed between Carolyn Carlson and Pina Bausch and co-founder of Sosta Palmizi, Giordano entrusts the piece to Stefania Tansini for a new interpretation twenty years after its debut. Freely inspired by the Song of Songs, the solo’s intimate, almost sacred simplicity resonates with Tansini’s distinctive presence. Suspended between presence and absence in a desert of fragmentary gestures, the original launched a long, hypnotic promise to the audience, lingering between a life not yet lived and a desire that has faded. Today the piece returns with Tansini’s melancholic estrangement and many veiled tensions. The message becomes a medium of sensorial tenderness and demanding challenges.
