Direction Under 30 – Teatro Cavallerizza, Reggio Emilia

About this event

Since 2015, Direction Under 30—run in partnership with Fondazione I Teatri di Reggio Emilia—has been the first Italian national theatre project entirely dedicated to artists and audiences under 30. Starting from an open call aimed at shows created by companies and individual artists under 30, the project presents six live finalists selected by an under‑30 Artistic Direction and ultimately awarded by an under‑30 Jury. It fosters an exchange of perspectives, sensibilities, and ideas among peers, aligning artistic direction, selection, and awarding within the same generation for a genuine form of “theatrical mutual aid.” The festival opens in Reggio Emilia, continues in Gualtieri with three days of live shows at the Teatro Sociale di Gualtieri, and returns to Reggio Emilia within Festival Aperto, which hosts the Critics’ Prize winning production.
