This production is a solo stage adaptation of Joachim Meyerhoff’s eponymous autobiographical novel, the third volume of his acclaimed series. Director Jan Bosse – who previously collaborated with Meyerhoff on the stage version of Thomas Melle’s The World at Your Back at Vienna’s Burgtheater – shapes the evening as a large-scale solo for the exceptional actor Anne Müller. Set and costumes are created jointly by Jan Bosse and Anne Müller, underscoring the evening’s intimate, autobiographical character. The production premiered on 16 March 2024 at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe and returned as a revival on 2 December 2026. It forms part of the “Meyerhoff im Doppelpack” series, in which Anne Müller performs both Meyerhoff adaptations – “Ach, diese Lücke, diese entsetzliche Lücke” and “Man kann auch in die Höhe fallen” – in a single evening.
