Conceived for Britten’s intimate chamber forces, this revival frames the opera’s Prologue and episodic scenes as a continuous dramatic arc that tightens "the screw" with each variation. Lilianna Krych leads the music, while Kamila Siwińska directs and designs projections alongside Agata Skwarczyńska (sets and lights) and Gieorgij Puchalski (movement). Puppet maker Katarzyna Pietrzykowska and puppet animation consultant Piotr Michalczuk signal a key visual layer in which puppets embody the supernatural presence at Bly. The staging explores what is seen and unseen, the governess’s shifting perceptions, and the children’s ambiguous complicity. Audience note: recommended 16+; unnumbered seating; entrance via Agrykola Street. A revival of the 22 October 2022 Polish Royal Opera premiere in the 2026/2027 season.
