About this event
This CSO Chamber Music program is themed "gastromusicology," exploring the intersection of food and music through a curated chamber recital by Chicago Symphony Orchestra musicians. The concert opens with Beethoven's "Gassenhauer" Piano Trio No. 4 and continues with Bohuslav Martinu's "La revue de Cuisine," a ballet suite inspired by kitchen utensils, paired with musical "food for thought" by Brahms, Beethoven and Schoenfield. The program concludes with Brahms's late Clarinet Trio, Op. 114. The performance takes place in Mandel Hall at the University of Chicago and includes a pre-concert lecture at 14:00 by Assistant Professor Paula Harper and a post-concert discussion with the artists moderated by Professor Harper.
