Soiree Zu „der Nussknacker” – Aalto Theatre, Essenbach

About this event

This approximately one-hour Soirée by Aalto Ballet Essen serves as an introduction to the new production “The Nutcracker – A Christmas Carol,” taking place shortly before its premiere. The production dramaturge speaks with members of the creative team about the choreography, musical features, and background, sharing insights into the upcoming opening. Dancers of the company offer brief stage excerpts that reveal the working process. The focus is on Youri Vámos’s choreography, which blends Hoffmann’s “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” with Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol,” set to Tchaikovsky’s colorful score to create a magical, festive evening for all ages. Michael Scott’s atmospheric set conjures Victorian London and the dreamlike Nutcracker world. The Soirée provides a concise preview of the narrative, choreographic style, and musical substance of the new ballet evening.
