Showtime (a disappointing evening) is a Schauspiel Essen production that premiered in Essen in 2023 and returns in the 2026/27 season. Written by Felix Krakau, the piece was originally developed in 2021/22 with Hans-Christian Hegewald at Staatstheater Darmstadt; in Essen it appears in a new staging with ensemble member Christopher Heisler as “universal actor David.” The visual identity centers on a series of production photos by Birgit Hupfeld and an official trailer.
