About this event

The 138th Subscription Concert of the Mt. Fuji Shizuoka Symphony Orchestra is part of the orchestra’s regular series and presents a single program in Hamamatsu. It features conductor Ryusuke Numajiri in his first appearance with the orchestra, pianist Shiori Kuwahara (4th prize, 19th International Chopin Piano Competition 2025), and organist Mari Ohki from Shizuoka (1st prize, 3rd International Buxtehude Organ Competition 2012). The first half offers Chopin’s youthful Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor, Op. 11, highlighting lyrical lines and brilliant virtuosity. The second half is devoted to Saint-Saëns’s Symphony No. 3 in C minor, Op. 78, the famous “Organ” Symphony, making full use of the grand pipe organ at Act City Hamamatsu. Together, orchestra and organ are set to fill the hall with the work’s expansive sonority and grandeur. A pre-concert talk by Maestro Numajiri begins at 13:05.
